Gay Rights vs Spiritual Beliefs

I tend to try and stay out of controversy as much as I can, life is interesting enough without adding more, but every now and then I come across something that really gets to me. This time it has to do with the California courts taking on gay medical rights. We are not talking about withholding medical treatment for a life threatening disease or even a simple case of the flu, we are talking about artificial insemination. Two doctors refused to do it because it violated their religious beliefs. The doctors met their medical obligation and helped the woman find another doctor that would perform the service.

Since then the gay woman has had 3 children and these doctors religious beliefs are under fire. I get so sick of hearing about gay rights when really there has been no harm done. Obviously the woman got what she wanted she simply needed to get it from someone else. Why is it that only gay rights seem to get the attention while the rights of these doctors are put into question? Again why do Christian beliefs and values have to always be under fire? It is the doctors here that are being discriminated against because of their beliefs, not the gay woman.

Gay rights are always in the news, wanting this and that but what about the fact that gays are largely responsible for the HIV and AIDS epidemic in this country, approximately 59%, with 40,000 new cases a year. Over 1.2 million Americans have some stage of HIV/AIDS and 25% don’t even know it. Over 500,000 people have died from the disease and every day unsuspecting people are being infected with this deadly disease because of gay-like behavior. Federal funding for HIV/AIDS is over $23 billion. So not only do Americans need to live in fear due to such diseases but we also have to pay our hard earned money to help clean up the mess.

I just don’t understand why everyone is fighting for special rights for these individuals while attacking people for their beliefs when there are bigger issues on the table. Honestly, I don’t have anything against the gay community. I don’t believe their behavior to be what God intended but I know I am far from perfect and who am I to judge.
