What’s the Scoop on Poop?
The foothills and lower Hulls Gulch behind Camels Back Park is a hotspot for mountain biking, leisurely walks, hiking, and jogging. Many trail users bring “man’s best friend” along for company, seems innocent enough right?
Unfortunately, there is more going on that has started much controversy, trash and doggy land mines are being left behind for others to find. It is hard to put the blame on the dogs when it is their owners who are responsible for picking up after themselves and pets.

Recently the problem has drawn a lot of attention and lawmakers are in the process of determining what to do. In the mean time police patrols, mountain bike cops, will be patrolling the area educating and possibly ticketing individuals that violate the law by not picking up.
Volunteers have also come forward in efforts to clean and maintain the trails while providing dog owners with leashes to use if needed. It is nice to have individuals that are willing and able to do things such as this for the community. However, in my mind it is too bad that it has to come to this. How hard is it to follow the rules? It comes down to one of two things; people don’t care or they are simply lazy.
If you enjoy the rights you currently have on the trails around Boise please pick-up after yourself. Others shouldn’t have too.
