Disc Golf – Part 2

I decided to learn a bit more about disc golf… Disc golf has been around since the 1960’s and since the 1980’s there have been national and world tournaments. (interesting)

There are several different throwing discs that are used, which are divided into 3 categories: putters, mid-range discs, and drivers. If you are looking for a place to check out this sport, Ann Morrison Park has a nice course. It is free and who knows maybe you are the next world champion.

Scoring is similar to golf. Each basket has a recommended number of shots it should take to get your disc in the basket. Par equals 0, while a bogey is a +1 and so on. If you get really good you may go the other direction and require less shots. You have a birdie, eagle, and albatross (which is 3 strokes under par).

Anyhow, I guess this game has been around for a while and if you don’t want to have to pay course fees or rent a cart while lugging around a bag of clubs this may be the sport for you.
