Boise the “City of Trees”
You ever wonder why Boise is called the “City of Trees”? It should be obvious right? You think it is because Boise has a lot of trees. Well that is right, but have you ever taken the time to really notice just what Boise looks like from above? This view from the lower Hulls Gulch area really makes you realize that Boise is the “City of Trees”.
As you can see, it is hard to see most of the valley. There are thousands of homes and people down there and you would never know it by looking down from here.

Boise or Les Bois was named so because the only trees seen by settlers were the Cottonwoods near the river back in the day. It’s interesting because Boise wasn’t named for the quantity of trees but rather for the placement of trees by the river. Appropriate and relevant.
